Northamptonshire firm provides the right outcome for the NHS
Communications and PR company Media Outcomes has just delivered an innovative new board game to the Northamptonshire Local Health Community Workforce Team.
The table top game, 'Step into the NHS', which is also available as a 3 meter floor mat, will be used by the Workforce Development Team to engage with and educate students from across the East Midlands on the varied and often overlooked career opportunities that are availabe to them within the National Health Service.
The game comes complete with animated playing counters and over-sized foam dice. When rolling the dice and landing on a square, students can pick up a question card and try to answer correctly in order to proceed with the game. The NHS facilitaor can then use these questions to evoke discussion within the group.
Dianne Panter, Workforce Development Manager for the Local Health Community Workforce Team, lef the project and has showcased the game for the first time at a 'Moving on Up' Careers Conference organised by Aimhigher. One of Dianne's roles is to promote the diversity of careers that are available within the NHS and provide relevant, up-to-date information.

"I needed something more interesting than a PowerPoint presentation to take into schools with me. This informative, colourful tool compliments the NHS Careers booklets and Step into the NHS website."
Matthew Turnbull of Media Outcomes said:
"The game has been developed as part of our 'Joining Up' brand which saw a similar game distributed across the country to Criminal Justice Boards and has been used to educate communities about the judicial process."
He added, "students of today are our workforce of tomorrow and a large number of them are needed to work in the NHS. The game contains everything that is needed in order to get key messages across to the target audience in a fun and exciting way."
The flexibility of this tool means that the concept can be applied to any industry that requires effective engagement and can be used to compliment a whole range of products that Media Outcomes has developed for community engagement, recruitment, training and marketing and sales.
The game was funded by the East Midlands Skills Academy for Health and will be used by Workforce Development Teams in Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
