SECURITY FIRST FOR MEDIA OUTCOMES
Kettering-based communications consultancy, Media Outcomes, has today (Tuesday, June 19, 2007) become the first business in the country to achieve accreditation under the police-backed Secure Environments business security scheme.
Secure Environments is a new risk management standard, launched earlier this year to promote good security practice in organisations by focusing on strategy, process and people. It complements the successful ACPO-supported Secured
by Design initiative.
Media Outcomes received its accreditation, at a ceremony at its headquarters at the SATRA Innovation Park, Rockingham Road, Kettering, from Managing Director of the Association of Chief Police Officers Crime Prevention Initiative
(ACPO CPI), Mr Richard Childs.
The award follows a detailed audit of the company.s security and safety policies and practice, conducted by the University of Leicester-linked Perpetuity Group, one of the country.s leading crime and security consultancies.
Awarding the accreditation to Media Outcomes senior partner, Mr Kevin Shapland, Richard Childs said:
"Media Outcomes is the first company in the country to receive the Secured
Environments award which is a significant achievement, demonstrating an
ongoing, pro-active approach to security risk management.
"Taking active steps to reduce crime and improve security is vital to ensuring the
long-term sustainability of businesses and the premises on which they operate."
Professor Martin Gill, Director of Perpetuity Group Research and Consultancy International congratulated Media Outcomes on achieving the accreditation. He said:
"This police accredited scheme has considerable potential to change the standards of crime prevention practice across the UK. Media Outcomes are an example of how important improvements in the security of people and property can be made efficiently and cost-effectively. It is a fantastic achievement and one that sets a target others will want to reach."
Media Outcomes Senior Partner, Kevin Shapland said:
"We are delighted to be the first business in the country to achieve this important accreditation. The safety and security of our staff, our premises and our clients sits at the top of our list of priorities and it is gratifying to know that the policies and procedures we have in place to ensure this are up to scratch.
"We believe Secure Environments makes an important contribution to business success by helping to focus organisations on an essential area of business activity.
"We were relatively happy with our physical security arrangements, but the accreditation process forced us to think hard about issues such as the security of clients. information and staff safety and to review our systems for ensuring that we are thinking about these matters on a continuous basis.
"PR and communications companies such as us are often in possession of commercially-sensitive client information and it is important that our clients know we have proper measures in place to ensure that it is protected."
